The great Basque golfer Jon Rahm has once again written a brilliant page in Spanish sport history by finishing third in the British Open and regaining the number one position in the world ‘ranking’.
Since his irruption into ‘amateur’ golf, in which he was ranked number one for 60 weeks, an unbeaten record , he has not stopped growing until 2020, at the age of 25, at number one in world golf , a record precocious only surpassed by Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth and Rory MacIlroy, all of them great figures, like him, already established.
The Spanish golf has always shone in the firmament of the sport, with great players like Sergio Garcia and Olazabal, among others, but Severiano Ballesteros, the great Seve, and now Jon Rahm.
The obligatory references to one of the sports specialties demanding and technified , hence having two Spaniards among the greats of all time is more than a dream for lovers of this unique sport.
And now having Jon, 26 years old and current number one in the world, is a luxury and a pride . An extraordinary champion, a true phenomenon who will continue to give us many days of glory .
